| Men are brutal because they can't create & can only cultivate force. I'm sure my husband was sincere when he raped me: he thought all his money impressed me: he couldn't see why I preferred a night mass to him. But so many women haven't been raped by him: & so many women would like his money: so many women create only to coerce. It's at evening vigil that we're all different: women have no bodies & men no voices & hardly anything held in esteem elsewhere-personality & opinion & the rest-is evident here. To sing is one thing: & to eat good food: & to know true friends: but a nameless dozen or two is massive: a nameless twenty-four that prays with one voice: this is something too tremendous for the senses even I sometimes worship. | by Tim Miller | ||||||
